Food, fun at fair celebrating
harvest festival - Baisakhi event attracts 2,000

BOSTON — Columns
of velvety red globes marked the entrance. The tantalizing
smell of spices wafted down the stairs, as a group of women in
brilliantly colored saris stood engrossed in conversation.
Vendors served sugarcane juice to people lining up to sample the
drink, as live Bhangra dances and music occupied the stage.
The Baisakhi
fair organized by the group Bollywood Talent, on April 21 at the
Boston Center for the Arts, offered something for everyone.
Nearly 2,000 people and 45 vendors were at the event, according
to organizers of Bollywood Talent....

I wait eagerly to meet Sunidhi Chauhan as I am supposed
to introduce her to the audience at the Bollywood talent show. I was
anxiously asking everyone back stage to tell me as soon as Sunidhi
arrives for I needed to talk to her. Suddenly the
organizer points to someone standing near the audio booth and says -
"There she is."

The Berkelee Performance Center was host last week to a
unique show. A talent show for local artists was organized by the
Bollywood Talent group. Over seventy people participated in the show
that comprised dance contests (in Classical/film style), a fashion
show and modeling contest.

and models will mingle with celebrity Indian entertainers at New
England's first Bollywood Talent Show. Pop singer Sunidhi Chauhan
and model Pooja Batra will perform at the show, while local hopefuls
compete in modeling and dance contests.

the Miss Indian New England beauty pageant held at the Sorenson
Theater in Babson College. Bijal Patel and Nehal Patel were the
first and second runner ups. The show was a glitzy affair organized
by the Arya Dance Academy (New York) and "Manoranjan Unlimited", a
local event management company.
